As a bloke who's trying to start my own business as an Electrician in Sydney, I'm doing what I can to save money. I've got a budget for bills and food and insurance and tools and tax and rainy days and I've got a budget for beers and treats.
Sometimes, I stay in and I don't spend the allowance I've given myself to be playful. That allowance then just sits in my account ready to be eaten up by me treating myself later.
Imagine, if there was an app linked to my bank account that noticed that I hadn't spent my allowance and prompted me to move it into my savings account so as I wasn't tempted to spend it later in the week.
And then maybe, at the end of the week, or the month, a little "Good Job Dave, you've saved $XXX... keep it up kid"
It's probably out there already. They've got an app for everything these days. And, I know, I could probably do it myself with a little bit of discipline, but apps are cool, and it might make saving feel more like fun instead of feeling like I'm missing out.
